Illusion

Society emphasizes a mystical white castle

Far off in the distance

Perhaps reaching it is a hassle

But keep trying—it’s of utmost significance

Journey on—can’t you see it?

Surely, you’ll reach it some day

It’ll be the perfect fit

That magical rainbow above on perfect display

Put in the effort and grit your teeth

Hard work is required, they insist

But there’s a bit of truth hiding underneath

Yet you can’t see it clearly through the hazy mist

You keep at it, feeling like a hamster in its wheel

Day in and day out pushing ever still

You can’t help but get this feeling: is this truly real?

Debt ever climbing as you try to fill

And simply meet those basic needs of housing and a meal

Is this the life you came to live and fulfill?

This can’t be it; this can’t be true happiness

Despite all they claim

All this feels like madness

And it can’t stay the same

That’s when you start to realize

What you’ve been looking for all along

Outside is not where the castle lies

It’s not where you belong

Actually, it’s been inside you, waiting for you to come home

From the start there was no need to go out, search, and roam

Open your eyes and see

What there can be

This inner kingdom holds endless possibility

And your heart and soul have always been the key
