In the quiet corners of my mind

A battle rages, undefined

To please the world, to bend and sway

Or stand my ground, come what may

The whispers of others, a constant hum

Their needs, their wants, a steady drum

Yet in the midst of this cacophony

I search for the melody that's truly me

To conform is easy, a path well-tread

But at what cost, this life I've led?

A mask worn tight, a smile feigned

While inside, my spirit wanes

Balance, a tightrope walk so fine

Between their world and mine

To honor them, yet not betray

The essence of me, come what may

In moments of doubt, I pause and breathe

To find the truth beneath the sheath

For in the quiet, I hear the call

To honor myself, to stand tall

A gentle reminder, a whispered plea

To be considerate, yet still be me

For in this dance of give and take

I find the courage to awake

In the quiet corners of the soul

Where whispers of truth softly roll

A journey begins, a quest to find

The balance of heart and peace of mind

So, here I stand, a work in progress

Learning to balance, to acquiesce

To give with grace, to receive with pride

To walk this path, with love as my guide
